News Director and Editor in Chief, Guerrilla News

Lee Durbin runs Guerrilla News as News Director and Editor in Chief. He has the final word on what we publish, decides what we cover each day, produces and edits our videos, manages the website, and travels with our field team to film public meetings, courthouses and First Amendment audits.

Lee found his calling by watching his father, Ronald E. Durbin II, stand up for people's civil rights: filing records requests, questioning officials at public meetings and taking government agencies to court when they broke the law. Lee saw how much that work mattered to the people it helped, and he wanted more people to see it.

So he asked his dad a question: would he help him start a news channel on YouTube? Ron said yes. Lee picked up a camera, learned to edit, and began publishing the meetings, confrontations and records that local news rarely covered.

That channel grew into Guerrilla News. Today Lee leads the newsroom of a nonprofit news organization that reaches hundreds of thousands of Oklahomans every month.
